What is an atlas code?

Breeding evidence of species is described by the atlas code. It is represented by a series of categorised types of observation that allow interpreting if the species is a possible, probable or confirmed breeder at each square. For EBBA2 the 16 breeding codes of the first European atlas are used with an additional code for species recorded during the breeding season but suspected to be non-breeders. For more details see the EBBA2 methodology and download materials.
